Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year...good food, family time, and lots of laughter. This year we had Thanksgiving at my house so I had a lot to be in charge of....

With the start of the Holiday Season I kept thinking of all the things I am thankful for and I hope that we all will keep the true meaning of this time of year is really all about!

Cozy Weekend

Friday night date night with my Cowyboy....

Creamy potato soup in bread bowls yummm...and Captain America it was a great night!

Then last night we went to the brand new Eureka Burger which was amazing and then went to Twilight Breaking Dawn (team Edward), which is our guilty pleasure:)

Now its Sunday  and it has been raining like crazy all day!

Its been a wonderful weekend full of wonderful dates:)

Home for the Weekend

I had a four day weekend so I took the chance and came home. I love home especially in the fall... rain, clouds and a roaring fire. While I was home I finally had the chance to spend my birthday money! I had my eye on this beautiful bag from fossil for a long time, now its finally mine! 

Can't wait for Thanksgiving now, I have some great recipes and centerpieces that I can't wait to share!

Happy Trick or Treating

Library Musings

 Libraries are romantic in a way, so many different ideas and thoughts housed in one place. Thousands of books all just waiting to be pulled off the shelf and read. So many today are forgotten and no longer visited, this makes me so sad. I spent so many days going to the library picking out a new book that would take me on an adventure into a world far far away or teach me something new. To me there has always been some level of comfort that I can only get from reading, that may be why I am addicted to it. Sitting surrounded by books is such a nice way to spend an afternoon, even if I have other things to do I like knowing that just I could escape into a book anytime I want.

Blooming Geraniums

I have always loved geraniums, both my Mom and Grandma have  had beautiful plants since I could remember. These are cuttings that will start my own collection and they are just starting to bloom! 

I'm so excited to see them grow!

Chair Revamp

I have had this set of  dining room chairs for a year now and have been  dying to redo them....

 I finally did and don't they look better!

Projects on Display!

This summer in my floral design class we had two major projects that we got to display on campus. My first project was a display that was based on a children's book, I choose Angelina Ballerina of course! I really liked the way that it turned out my arrangement is one of my favorites ever. The second project is my absolute favorite, I had to do a table setting for a wedding that included an arrangement, invitation, place mat and more. I wanted a simple clean design that could be used for an outdoor wedding. I think I may have found my new passion!

Girls Weekend!

Last weekend my mom and sister came up to visit me, we had a great time shopping, eating, laughing, baking, and spending some quality time together. We spent hours downtown wandering around some fabulous shops; Hands art gallery (cool jewelry), Pottery Barn (an all time favorite), Gap (gotta love a flash sale), and many more plus our always needed breaks for treats! I had fresh peaches from farmers market so of course I had to bake a pie, I think it was the best I have ever made! The crust was perfect even a few days later it was still flaky and delish,  however I think the peaches stole the show. I think if you are going to bake or cook anything you need to use the best ingredients available, in other words, go big or go home. We spent a day at the Edna Valley winery, it was unbelievably beautiful with a priceless view of the valley full of vineyards. The BBQ for wine club members was so good, the weather was perfect and although some of us could not taste (me) it was a great day! It was the perfect weekend I love spending time with my girls even though we missed our fearless leader (dad) we may have planned another all girls weekend:)

Florals

I have one of the best possible jobs, I work as a student designer for the Poly Plant Shop. Not only to I get to work with fresh flowers everyday but I get to work in one of the most beautiful locations. I am a strong believer in the healing powers of the outdoors, spending time outside in the sunshine is the best way to stay healthy and happy. This summer taking Biochemistry has been very hard on my moral, who voluntarily signs up to take that class on their summer vacation? Me that's who, it will help put me on track to graduate next spring but I am having a hard time remembering that! What has helped is working and I am also taking floral design! I love this class I am learning so much and am gaining so much experience. So between the beautiful flowers and the beautiful San Luis sunshine I have been able to hold onto my sanity this summer!

Fresh Start

Well it has been a week since I moved into my new two bedroom apartment on at the end of Peach Street just a 5 minute walk to downtown! While there are some amazing features like the fireplace, my own bathroom and a patio just big enough for a BBQ and some planters there are some challenges we have to deal with. The first thing to go was the horrible green walls in my small bedroom which is now 'Pebbled Courtyard' and looks about 10 times bigger! After the apartment got a good overall cleaning it is ready to decorate, I busted out the hot glue gun and have a couple projects in the works. Its been such a fun week and I can't wait to make this little apartment pretty as a peach!
